Apple has announced a new iPad event
The next step in Apple's 2024 plan is a product launch event scheduled for May, following the introduction of the Vision Pro at the beginning of the year. Media have been receiving invitations from Apple to a "special Apple Event" scheduled for May 7 at 7 a.m. PT/10 a.m. ET. It is quite evident from the invite image which features the Apple Pencil that iPads will be the main attraction of this online gathering.
According to rumors, the iPad Pro will receive some of the biggest upgrades since the 2021 M1 redesign, such as an OLED display (the larger model will have an OLED display with a small size jump to 13 inches), an upgraded M3 CPU, and the long overdue horizontal repositioning of the front-facing camera. A revised Magic Keyboard with an aluminum construction and a larger trackpad may also be available, along with a new Apple Pencil.
The longest wait for new iPad models since Apple originally entered the product category will come to an end on this occasion.
It's also possible that updated iPad Airs may come with a larger 12.9-inch model. A new report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg claims that Apple's retail stores are running low on the current iPad Air. That is a reliable sign that a new model is about to be released.
